Talk about a busy life. Only after TWO months I have time to write this. Anyways, here we go;
On that note, let me start with the trip to Intercontinental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 24th and 25th of August. I got there with 11 other colleagues from KMB. We all finally made the decision to go together by van a few days before the event. Thank god. Lol. So that's the transportation. The trip was about an hour.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the doormen that guarded the entrance and probably even the F1 car in the lobby. maybe.... maybe.... The event was on the second floor, so obviously that was where we were headed. Because I got there at 8 am on the dot, I went to register at the registration counter that just opened. After getting myself the 'frontest' row seat for the participants, (the first 3 rows were for the press) I headed back out the hall for the FREE FOOD! Who would say no to that. Haha.
After gorging on that, I headed back to the hall and read the fact sheets provider like the nerd that I am -when in reality I have no idea about nor prior knowledge about the topics; politics, economy and stuff. (See, I don't even know how to categorise the topics) Anyways, for most of the politics part I had to ask my friends at my side.
So the event started of with the key note speech, then the forum we all waited for, topic was something about government protecting proton as the national brand with taxes on imported cars. I would really like to give detailed info about this, but I lost the booklet given an notes were left at college. Nice~ =.= there were a few more forums by different speakers later that later got me more interested in Malaysia's (ridiculous) politics and economy. After the forums there was a group discussion (groups are a few rows of the same column) After all that, the clock showed 5.30pm. Marking the end of day 1. Don't worry dear food lovers, lunch provided were delish and breaks were sufficient for Muslims-like me! :)
Day 2
Since this day, departure was a bit early, arrival was also early. So, I had free breakfast! :) and for some reason that day, I sat at the exact same seat I did the day before. Heheh.
The tentative was about the same as the previous day, but the topics and speakers were different - obviously. More politicians and amazing people came down. Those included Khairy Jamaluddin, Nurul Izzah, And Tony Fernandes to name a few. Tony came to the hall and made the crowd go wild with the word "One person that has something red on them, come to the stage right now to get a free ticket". It took me a few seconds to register those words, and by the time that happened, two people already got up there. Well, they both got the tickets to anywhere they wanted. Speaking about tickets, he gave out a few more during the Q&A session. Talk about a generous man. Enough with the tickets, anyways, his speech consisted of his life story, motivation and how he got Air Asia for 1 ringgit.
Initially, the Prime Minister was supposed to come for the closing speech, but then KJ came as a replacement. Most of the girls the girls seemed fine with the turn of events, -you know why... I for one did not complain for the those reasons, I just didn't care enough. -oops. Hahaha. Well, after that the group discussion went on as usual (or was it before the closing speech, can't remember). When all was done, back to KMB we all did, exhausted and all.
Aaahhh, here's something I forgot to mention; The Twitter Competition.
There was a twitter competition where the rules keep changing constantly until the winner announcements. At the beginning, winner is the one that tweets (mention and hashtag) the most. Suddenly, on the second day, there are 3 categories. I.e., 'The most tweets' , 'The most popular tweet' , and 'The most creative tweet'. The winners get, a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, an iPad Mini, and an iPod touch respectively. I was in the running to win the most tweets, whereby I had 320 tweets by noon of day 2. This put me in first place. The second was not really that far behind. At the time of that announcement, I was sentenced to tweet limit for about half an hour. Lol. However, by the end of the competition, I ran out of battery. Yep, you guessed it, caused me a lot of tweets which led to my loss to second place. The gap was only 20 tweets, FYI. I didn't take it too hard, maybe it wasn't even mine in the first place, hence the obstacles. However, that experience put me on a twitter hybernation, as I did not feel like tweeting for a while. Haha.
All in all, it was AWESOME! I would go again next year if given the chance and time. :)
